Wholecloth Mini

Image
Earlier in August I received some fabric and matching thread for this month's Aurifil Artisans challenge.   The fabric is from Painter Palette Solids 2019 trending colors , I received Wisteria, and a match 28 wt Aurifil thread and 40 wt in my bobbin. I didn't get my project completed on time because of some issues I was having with my longarm, all user error, but about at the beginning of the week I got my machine tuned up and I quickly finished up a project I had already loaded and started working on my wholecloth mini. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do when I first got the fabric but with fall approaching I decided to quilt a block from my Trellis quilt.  I love the look of this block and the leaf motif it makes. I love using Aurifil thread in my longarm, the texture and sheen are perfect for a wholecloth project. Most the time I use Aurifil forty3 (40 wt 3 ply) but for more specific colors I switch to the 28 wt. To finish up the mini I bound it wi

Infrastructure Quilt Along - Solids

At fall market last year Benartex expand their solids fabric line and introduced their Super Solids collection !  For the quilt along Christa will be making my Infrastructure using her new Geo Pop collection and I will be making it using Superior Solids. Infrastructure in Solids Almost all the colors are a match to the original pattern but the two differ when it comes to some of the greys.  Below is the fabric requirements for the solid version: Benartex was very generous and sent me the fabric a couple weeks ago.  I haven't started cutting into them yet but they are very soft and a nice texture.  Superior Solids have a tighter weave than Kona and Bella solids and are heavier than AGF solids but not as heavy as Painter Palette solids, I hope that helps. Superior Solids by Benartex I've compiled a quilt list of online fabric shops that carry Superior Solids if your local shop doesn't have them.  It's always a good idea to let your local shops know

Modern Arrangement - APQ October 2019

I haven't done too much magazine publishing this year but back in January and February I made four quilts all due for publication, Banner Day-Curated Quilts , Petal Patch-MQG Modern Monthly , Follow the Leader-Modern by the Yard and lastly, Modern Arrangement-American Patchwork & Quilting ! All images used with permission from American Patchwork & Quilting® magazine. © 2019 Meredith Corporation.  All rights reserved. This is my first time working with American Patchwork & Quilting magazine so I wanted to design a quilt that would introduce their readers to my style of design and quilting.  Most of my work carries an element of balance, depth and movement and Modern Arrangement has all three. For the quilting I wanted to use a geometric design that draws your eye into the color intersections but at the same time gave interesting resting areas while looking at the design form a distance.  I accomplished both by using a point to point method and a b
