New Quilt Pattern - Holiday Cheer!

Image
I have a new quilt and pdf quilt pattern/kit to share just in time for Christmas.  My Holiday Cheer quilt!  In celebration of this timely quilt release I'm offering 20% off all regularly priced patterns with code: PATTERN20   I'm excited to share that Holiday Cheer is my first Christmas quilt!  I designed it to last long after Christmas and through the whole holiday season with an updated color palette and modern traditional design.  I also have a Holiday Cheer quilt kit available featuring Painter's Palette Solids by PBS Fabrics.   As I was piecing this quilt I began thinking of the quilting.  I knew I wanted some swirly design for the background.  I also knew I did not have the skill to do that on my own so I looked through the vast Gammill quilting store and found the perfect background by Wildflower Quilting - Karen Farnsworth .     After the background was picked I designed a different motifs for each color in the quilt and used it in the corresponding parallelogram

Come Quilt With Me!

Hello everyone!  It's been a while but that's because there has been much going on behind the scene.  First off, I have some great retreat/workshop opportunities to share with you.  Because my daughter is still young I don't like being away from home much so I am very picky about where I choose to travel and teach. My next quilt retreat is at the Madeline School of Arts in August :   This is a comprehensive class that will touch on how to make dynamic curve quilts.  Finding your creative voice is so important and this class will give you tools to guide you on that journey while learning the ins and outs of curve piecing. Next up, I'll be teaching again at Empty Spools Seminars in April 2023 !     In this class we will work on a quilt while learning different curve piecing techniques.  Each day there will be an introduction demo with a pretty flower block.  Each flower is made in a different way front he others.  By the end of the class you will have a bad full of new

Mod Texture Handwork - Aurifil Artisan Challenge

Image
When Aurifil announced a machine quilting mixed with hand stitching challenge for their artisans I knew I wanted to make a mini quilt for the challenge.   I love adding texture to a design with hand work.  I know a few embroidery stitches, I think I used all I know, except for french knots, on this mini.  My favorite thread weight for walking foot quilting is 28 wt Aurifil and for the hand working I used 12 wt Aurifil.       I had a collection of neutral colored threads from a previous project that went perfectly with the neutrals of my Mod Textures fabric line and the matching Painter's Palette Solids both by Paintbrush Studios.  In the picture below you can see the difference in the 28 wt walking foot stitches and the 12 wt chain stitch in side the rainbow.   The overall look the project is very soft and tranquil.  I used standard piecing to make the arches in the rainbow and I improv pieced the sky with the sun breaks in the clouds.  The printed fabrics were mixed with solid and

New Fabric Line - Mod Textures!!

I can't believe that my third fabric collection for Paintbrush Studios is finally available.  Mod Textures has 24 prints, 12 warm and 12 cool and 6 unique designs.  This collection is perfect for adding subtle texture and interest to any project and the two colorways will blend effortlessly with other fabrics.   The Mod Texture prints vary in density, size and value but this fabric collection didn't start as a monotone collection.  I original had a color palette close to my Sidekicks palette but after working with Paintbrush Studio we came up with a warm and cool colorway for the line and I couldn't be happier!   These prints can play a supporting role in your project or become the main feature.  They can be the foundation of a great design or the spice up what is already there.  I love how the Mod Texture prints are so versatile. I mixed the Mod Textures with my Sidekicks fabric line to create a Mod Hexies quilt kit using both fabrics.  This quilt was a surprise.  When
