Awaning Quilt by Meadow Mist Designs
My friend Cheryl, Meadow Mist Design, is an amazing quilt designer and it was so exciting to see the design she came up with for my Sketchbook fabric line. Her Awning quilt pattern is now available in her shop.
I love how Cheryl used the shapes in the prints to inspire her design. She written a great blog post all bout her design process and quilting choices that can be read on her site, Meadow Mist Designs. She colored matched the prints to different Aurifil thread, which is my favorite of course.
I hadn't thought of it myself, but I love the use of the wedge print for the binding. The wedges look like a stripe when folded around the edge of the quilt but less structure, especially as the print moves around the quilt. It's a great "lived in" feel.
I love horizontal quilting and I really love the texture Cheryl added using horizontal quilting for the background. It really brings the scallops of the awnings come forward and stand out. I also like the fun loops she used to fill thee scallops keeping with that laid back feel of the design.
I hope you will take a few minutes and check out Cheryl's blog and shop. She has a fabulous collection of patterns, both print and digital downloads, and a great book showcasing modern plus designs. Speaking of shops, I've been working hard to add new products to mine, quiltachusetts.com. I now carry my fabric lines, both Sketchbook and my second fabric line Road Trip, more on that to come, my books, yes books my next book is now available for pre-order and even some templates that are compatible with my patterns. All very exciting stuff, so I hope you will get a chance to check out the new additions.
"Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For 'He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.'" 1 Peter 3:8-12
Thanks for allowing me to play with your fabrics, they are wonderful prints!
