Book Review and Life Update

Wow 2021 has been crazy!  I spent months getting my house ready to sell then selling my house and finally moving and setup my quilting studio.  It seemed like I'd never have time to get back to my regular quilt making but over halfway through the year I finally feel like life is getting back to normal.  I haven't meant to neglect my blog, I've had things to tell, but there just hasn't been time.  I finally decided this morning that it's just time to start up again and make time.  I have a back log of posts and couldn't be happier to share with you a book review for a friend's book, 99 Machine Quilting Designs by Christa Watson!

I love the variety of quilting motifs in Christa's book, 99!  Even though Christa uses her domestic machine for her designs, most will crossover for longarm application too.

Many of the quilting designs are very modern and I especially like the clean-geometric lines of the overlapping spirals.  This would make a great all over quilting pattern and it is easily adjusted for the area you are quilting.  Christa gives clear instructions and even diagrams to aid in the execution of each of the quilting designs.

I also fell in love with her cobblestones motif.  The irregular shapes is a great take on the tried and true quilted pebbles.  This is a great background or filler quilting option that will instantly add texture to your quilt.  Christa also gives tips on how to practice each quilting design on paper before you commit to actual stitches on your quilt.

Christa's book is available for purchase now at bookseller and on her site, chistaquilts.com.  If you've struggled with coming up with quilting designs for your projects this book is a great resource.

"Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.  But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped...  Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right handYou guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.  But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works."  Psalm 73:1-2 & 23-38
